DuPont Laminate Flooring Quickly Improves Appearance

Having the look of popular wood or stone floors is available through the use of DuPont laminate flooring, and it can be installed over virtually any existing floor without the need for the labor and the mess associated with tearing up existing floors. With many colors, style and designs to choose from, you can be sure to find a Dupont laminate flooring that meets your home design needs.

The interlocking installation of Dupont laminate flooring makes it popular with the do-it-yourself crowd as the only requirement for the sub-floor is that it be clean and stable. The flooring should also be structurally sound with no big gaps or holes over which the new flooring could become damaged. The Dupont laminate flooring comes with a pre-installed foam under layer for better noise absorption and comfort.

The designs of wood and stone is just one of the qualities that has made laminate flooring soar in popularity in recent years. Along with the ability to give a home the look of freshly installed stone or hardwood flooring, coupled with the lasting durability and reasonable cost has helped bring Dupont laminate flooring near the top in home improvement projects.

Typical Installation Is Quick And Easy

Installing your new Dupont laminate flooring is a snap with its glue-less interlocking seams, whether you are installing slate or wood design, the instructions are fairly consistent. You will have to remove any carpet or wood flooring, which is glued to a concrete floor. Wood that is not glued down can stay in place. If installing your Dupont laminate flooring over concrete flooring you will need a vapor barrier consisting of plastic sheeting at least six-mil thick, overlapping at least seven inches and rising about two to three inches up the walls.

Wood designs should run parallel to windows, but this is dependent on the layout of the room. The installation of the Dupont laminate flooring should start with the longest wall with the installation being conducted one row at a time. This will insure the planks remain square as you make your way across the room. With rooms over 1,000 square feet in space, you will need to leave expansion space of at least a half-inch on all four sides. The finishing trip will over this gap.

Cleaning the floor with a damp mop or soft brush is recommended and harsh, abrasive cleaners should never be used. Do not soak the floors and clean up spills promptly to prevent water from soaking into the bottom of the Dupont laminate flooring.
